Transylvania County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 29,334. Its county seat is Brevard.
History
The county was formed in 1861. Its name is derived from the Transylvania Company and has Latin origins: trans ("across") and silva or sylva ("woods").
