Hertford County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 22,601. Its county seat is Winton.
History
The county was formed in 1759. It was named for Francis Seymour-Conway, 1st Earl of Hertford, later 1st Marquess of Hertford.
